Vision Tip of the Month: Don’t Overlook Your Eyelids

Now that summer is almost here you may want to be extra diligent about sunscreen, as skin cancer, the most common type of malignancy, can develop on any area of the skin exposed to the sun – including the eyelids.

Skin cancer typically appears as nodules, often with pearly borders and ulcerated centers, which many patients attribute to a sore that won’t heal rather than cancer. Be aware; wear good sunglasses; and, as you’re lathering your sunscreen, don’t overlook your eyelids.
