Corneal Transplants As A Last Resort – Practice Vision Care First
The cornea can be thought of as your eye’s windshield, the clear protective covering that keeps dirt and other particles from reaching the iris and retina. The cornea can become worn down, cracked, damaged, even infected. cience has come so far that we can now replace the bad cornea with donor tissue. This give many people much better vision.
But, as with all “good news” there is the bad news… cornea transplants can be very expensive, and, you always have the possibility of your body rejecting the corneal tissue, meaning that the process might need to be reversed, or even worse.
That’s why I preach … “become pro-active in you vision care, the earlier, the better”. A cornea transplant is always a possibility, but, it should be your last choice. Preventative care is the way you should go.
