Glasses, surgery, contacts, these are by no means the only way to tackle vision problems. Both exercises and good nutrition can be of great help, yes, also for our vision!

Here are a couple more ways to help you improve your eyesight.

Go Figure, That Classical Music

We have heard that classical music is good for relaxation, good for the brain, and even good for the baby in the womb, but, is it possible it’s good for the eyes?

A Brazilian study suggests that yes, it can help our vision. Researchers tested medical students by playing them a recording of Mozart for ten minutes before the students took a visual test. The results showed that these students did perform better in the visual test than those who did NOT listen to…Mozart.

And, how interesting is this: In another study, researchers divided sixty participants into two groups. The groups then took a test that helps identify whether someone suffers from peripheral vision abnormalities or blind spots. The first group listened to Mozart’s Sonata for Two Pianos for ten minutes before the test; the second group sat quietly. If you guessed that the Mozart-listening group scored better, you are correct!

Hey, I wouldn’t say these tests are scientifica breakthroughs, or gospel, but, maybe there is more to visual acuity than meets the eye.

The best way for you to take care of your vision your eyesight is to go to your eye doctor on a regular basis, and then…. become pro-active in your vision care and your eyes!

Belly Up to the Oxygen Bar

Just a tip for you diabetics: According to the Johns Hopkins Medicine Web site, “Oxygen delivered through the nose may improve poor vision caused by diabetic macular edema, (which is) fluid buildup in the part of the eye responsible for central vision.”

If you have to squint to recognize that person waving at you from down the street, you’re not alone—not only that, but your numbers are growing every day. According to a recent research study funded by the National Center for Health Statistics, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the National Eye Institute, the presence of myopia, or nearsightedness, has significantly increased over the past 30 years.

How significantly?

The data shows that the incidence of myopia in Americans ages 12 to 54 is up from 25 percent in the 1970s to 41 percent this decade. That’s an increase of 66 PERCENT!

What is nearsightedness?

If you are part of the nearsighted nation, your eyes focus incorrectly, making distant objects appear blurred. As a result, someone with myopia tends to squint when viewing faraway objects. This gesture is the basis of the word “myopia,” which comes from two Greek words: myein, meaning “shut,” and ops, meaning “eye.”

What causes nearsightedness?

In the past, if you asked your doctor or ophthalmologist what caused nearsightedness, almost certainly he or she would’ve responded, “Genetics.” While it’s true that nearsightedness runs in families, this recent study — covered by everyone from Good Morning America to the New York Times — seems to suggest that environmental factors play a significant cause.

When interviewing Dr. Richard Besser, senior health and medical editor for ABC News, Good Morning America’s George Stephanopoulos pointed out that last year alone, there were 110 BILLION text messages sent, double the amount of the previous year. The dates of the study correspond almost perfectly with the rise in near-point stress in American life, as we spend more and more of our time surfing the Web, texting on cell phones, watching TV, and playing video games. As the Times put it, “Higher levels of education are often associated with nearsightedness, and people are more likely to have jobs that involve focusing on nearby objects, believed to be a leading cause of the condition.”

A dramatic effect on children

While the rise in nearsightedness is certainly alarming for the nation as a whole, it is even more so in the case of children. Prevent Blindness America says, “Since so much of a child’s learning is done visually, healthy vision is critical to success in the classroom.” The problem is that, although the CDC estimates there are 12.1 million American school-age children with vision problems, only one in three receives eye care before the age of 6. Dr. Roy Chuck, chairman of ophthalmology at Montefoire Medical Center in New York, notes that “nearsighted work can really affect the development of young eyes. If that is exclusively the kind of work that you are doing, it is equally important to be outside playing, stimulating your far vision.”

The National Eye Institute plans to dedicate $10 million dollars to future studies, in order to figure out what caused the rise in myopia. But in the meantime, we here at Rebuild Your Vision will be getting regular eye exams, for ourselves and our children; following our solid program of eye exercises; eating a nutritious diet and supplementing with the Ocu-Plus Formula; and trading the cell phone, computer, and TV, at least once in a while, for a romp in the great outdoors with our families.

The Secret of Avoiding Common Summer Eye Injuries

Pop quiz: What kind of glasses will most help you avoid common eye injuries this summer?

A. Reading glasses
B. Safety glasses
C. Sunglasses
D. Martini glasses

You may be surprised to learn that the answer is b, safety glasses. As pork is “the other white meat,” safety glasses are the “other glasses” few people even think about. We all know that sunglasses can protect our long-term eye health — and keep us stylish and squint-free in the process. But who goes to the mall to look for safety goggles?

Exercise For Eyes: Exercises Learn Easy Eye Exercises That Have
Amazing Success Improving Vision. RebuildYourVision.com

All of us should: Experts say that more than 90 percent of eye injuries can be prevented by simply taking a few precautions and wearing safety glasses. And the Journal of Public Health notes that “the home is a frequent place for severe penetrating ocular injury, with highly popular pastimes such as do-it-yourself [repairs] and gardening as common causes.”

Gardening, you say? Why, what could be more harmless than that?

Yet a little-known fact is, according to Eye Health Illinois, that every year more than 5,000 eye injuries happen in the yard and garden. A mower blade moving at speeds around 100 miles per hour can throw rocks or other debris, resulting in severe damage and even blindness. (I know about that first hand, I got hit in the head by a flying rock) Dust and mulch kicked up by a mower can also cause serious eye injury. Cutters and clippers can likewise propel pebbles, twigs, and lawn debris with tremendous force. Chips and splinters from pruning or clipping are especially hazardous, and twigs and branches can quickly snap back into your face.

Home repair is another popular summer activity. During the warmer months is when we’re most likely to tackle home clean-ups and fix-ups. There too, wearing safety glasses is an excellent precaution. When cleaning, sudden drafts can blow the mist from aerosol cleaners or sprays into the eyes, and empty spray cans can explode. Cleaning chemicals are often the cause of eye injuries around the house. Three handy tips, from Nemours Enterprise, are:

* Always wash your hands after using cleaning products to avoid contact with your eyes.

* Never carry an open container to avoid the possibility of splashing chemicals in your eyes.

* When pouring chemicals or cleaning products, pour away from your face and protect your eyes by wearing safety glasses.

Needless to say, woodworking, car repairs like changing or charging an auto battery, cleaning gutters, installing or fixing roofing or siding, and other popular DIY projects carry serious risk. One study found that the commonest mechanism of injury was projectiles, usually from particles thrown off after hammering.

And that’s not to mention sports activities, during which 40,000 people a year suffer eye injuries, according to Prevent Blindness America.

The upshot? They may not be as attractive as Ray Bans, but safety glasses are the best way to prevent common summer eye injuries. Get used to donning them, just as you apply sunscreen and wear sunglasses. As Dr. Robert Hered, a pediatric ophthalmologist at Nemours Children’s Clinic, declares, “People who have suffered a serious eye injury wish in retrospect that they had worn protective eyewear.”

Oh, and those martini glasses? Better not use them while you’re on your lawn tractor!

Training your vision is real and it does work! Many athletes, from all over the world, have said that training of visual skills is as important as their athletic skills. What is the opitmum goal? 20 20 Vision!

==Natural Vision Improvement markets itself as a lifestyle method of improving eyesight by holistic means without the use of optical devices.
Where would you need really good vision in sports, like in the Winter Olympics? Biathlon is a term used to describe any sporting event made up of two disciplines. However, biathlon usually refers specifically to the winter sport that combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting.

Vision performance involves much more than just good eyesight. In sports, vision improvement includes a goal for: eye alignment, visual tracking, visual recognition and depth perception.

It really is amazing how much is involved in such manouvers as: parking a car, staying in your lane on the hightway, recognizing distances of objects, especially moving objects.

Although not written about frequently, there is an eye condition you need to be aware of – a Cataract.

What is a cataract? A cataract is the clouding of the eye’s lens, that part of the eye responsible for focusing light and producing clear sharp images. A cataract may lead to blindness if left untreated.

==>>Vision problems? Looking for a way to improve your eyesight naturally? Then stop everything and read…Rebuild Your Vision (Not all problems can be fixed, but many can!)

Why do you need to be aware of this? Simply because more than half of all Americans develop cataracts by age 80. Cataract surgery is the number one surgical procedure in the United States. Roughly 1.5 million procedures are performed annually.

Cataracts are most prevalent in people over 60. They can occur at any age. In younger people a chronic medical condition, eye trauma and even certain prescription drugs trigger them. There are even congenital cataracts in infants.

Contrary to an old wives’ tale, cataracts are not made worse by close work such as reading, sewing or watching T.V.

For adults, smoking, steroid use and certain vitamin and mineral deficiencies may trigger a cataract. Also prolonged exposure to sunlight, namely ultraviolet B rays, is a risk factor. People with Diabetes, myotonic dystrophy and Wilson’s disease have a higher risk as well as women and African-Americans.

Cataracts cause no pain. They develop slowly. It takes a few months to several years. Some common symptoms are: Blurred or fuzzy vision, distorted images, double vision, fading of colors,
sensitivity to light and glare at night and frequent changes in eyeglass prescriptions.

For some people a cataract stops developing early and there is only a slight decrease in vision. For others vision is impaired and treatment is necessary. The best time to remove a cataract is when the person’s quality of life is affected.

What does the surgery consist of? A small incision is made. buy The cloudy lens of the eye is removed and replaced by an artificial lens. Many don’t even need stitches.

Normally the surgery is done on an outpatient basis with local anesthesia. The patient goes home the same day. Are there any complications from the surgery? For some patients, a thin membrane
may develop months or years behind the lens which is implanted. This is corrected with laser treatment.

When a person has stopped growing, and their eyes are progressively getting worse, it is probable because what is called “near point stress”. At risk: office workers who work on their computers all day long, also students researching and chatting with friends on line.

And, Facebook Users, who sit for hours and write back and forth. What about avid television/movie watchers. When you wear corrective lenses, contacts or glasses, then the muscles of your eye can only be can only be resting when you are looking at an object a minimum of about 20 feet away. So how often does an office worker, a Facebook user, a student actually look away from the screen or TV? Not too often, we know that.

If you focus on anything, like a monitor, television screen, book at less than twenty feet, then your eyes will actually have to accommodate to do that – that is they have to actually change the muscles to focus at less than that 20 feet.

You’ve probably heard of body language as a way of communicating true feelings. But did you know there’s also such a thing as eye language?

Researchers have known for years that pupil size is a major clue in determining a person’s emotional response, and can sometimes contradict what’s actually being said. If you want to know safe how your date honestly feels about you, look into his or her eyes. A larger pupil indicates a positive response, whereas a constricted pupil indicates a less than favorable reaction. Similar eye responses can be seen in reactions to food or other stimuli.

In the 1960′s and 1970′s, German immigrant and psychologist Eckhard Hess first researched the importance of the eye’s pupil size in response to emotional stimuli through eye measurements known as pupillometrics or pupillometry.

We’ve all heard of carpal tunnel syndrome, perhaps the most severe computer-related injury, but few are aware of Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS), the most common. The American Optometric Association defines CVS as the “complex of eye and vision problems related to near work that are experienced during or related to computer use.” Symptoms of CVS are eyestrain, headaches, blurred vision, and neck or shoulder pain.

Fortunately, making some basic changes to your work station can significantly improve the symptoms of CVS. And since March is “Save Your Vision Month,” what could be more appropriate than taking a closer look at what you look at daily — your computer?

1) Monitor Madness

==>>“Discover how you can quickly and easily
improve your vision with eye exercises and
enjoy the freedom of life without glasses or contacts…”

Repositioning your monitor is an easy and effective way to avoid awkward head or eye movements. It should be squarely in front of you at a distance of 18 to 28 inches, with the top of the monitor (not the screen) level with your eyes. You may also have to adjust the angle of your monitor to allow your eyes to remain in a natural position (straight ahead and slightly down). The ideal viewing angle is 10 to 20 degrees below your eye level. Remember, too, to place any copy you are working with at the same level as the screen; document holders that attach to the side of your monitor can be purchased at any office supply store.

2) Glare Care

Modifying does make you last longer your office lighting will eliminate glare and harsh reflections. First, find the source of the glare: is it coming from a window, task light, or the computer screen itself?

Adjust blinds or curtains to minimize sunlight. Turn down overhead lights so that the brightness of the screen and the surrounding room are balanced. Do not, however, work in the dark: the contrast between computer-generated light and lack of background light strains the eyes. Task lights should be positioned to provide direct light for reading and other office work but should not shine directly on the computer. Use a monitor glare screen or hood, change your monitor position, adjust your brightness/contrast controls, and use a larger text size, as display legibility is an important factor in visual performance. And get out those paper towels! A dusty, dirty screen can contribute to eye fatigue.

3) Take a Break

It’s easy to lose track of time at the computer. Take a break at least once an hour for about 10 minutes and blink frequently — video display use is associated with a decreased frequency of blinking. (And a computer break is a perfect excuse to perform your Rebuild Your Vision eye exercises.) Computer use can also cause an increased rate of tear evaporation. Relieve dry, itchy eyes with artificial tears from the drugstore or supermarket.

4) Special Needs

Seniors should take extra care arranging their work stations. The American Optometric Association notes that workers over 50 years of age require twice the light levels of young adults for comfortable work.

By the same token, very often small children share the same computer as their parents, a situation that can lead to injury, as monitor distance and position have been set up to accommodate the adults. Parents should also keep track of time spent at the computer — “parental control” applies as much to taking breaks as overseeing content!

Finally, be sure not to strain and squint to see your computer screen. This can lead to a multitude of problems including headaches, fatigue, dry-eyes, and prolonged vision problems.

As with any eye care issue, discuss computer-related vision problems with a qualified professional.
