Eye Nutrition Fact: Protect Your Eyes With Glutathione
Glutathione is an amino acid that protects the tissues surrounding the lens of the eyes. According to Web MD, “It also has potentially widespread health benefits because it can be found in all types of cells, including the cells of the immune system, whose job is to fight disease.”
Numerous studies link glutathione with the prevention of cataracts, glaucoma, retinal disease, and diabetic blindness. Foods that increase glutathione levels include sulfur-rich foods such as garlic, eggs, asparagus, and onions, and glutathione-rich foods such as watermelon, asparagus, and grapefruits.

A Japanese study performed by the Department of Integrated Psychological Science and published in Applied Ergonomics, tested 13 individuals who completed four, two-hour sessions of proof reading over a two-week period. The analysis showed that the proof reading induced visual fatigue. Participants who took a lutein, zeaxanthin, and blackcurrant supplement showed significant differences in visual fatigue compared to those taking the placebo.
The study concluded that an oral supplement containing lutein, zeaxanthin, and black currant extract could help reduce the symptoms of visual fatigue.

“I am a QA analyst and my job requires me to work on computers 7.5 hours a day. Last November, I was having blurry vision, headache and dizziness for days, so I decided to go to an optometrist after work.
